About the Southern Nevada Infectious Disease Society

The Southern Nevada Infectious Disease Society (SNIDS) is a new organization that brings together local infectious disease experts in the Southern Nevada area to better prepare our communities to fight infectious diseases in the future. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple healthcare workers have worked tirelessly to promote cross collaboration between local health care industries to share key information and best practices to bolster community response. SNIDS was created in 2020 by Councilman Brian Knudsen (Las Vegas – Ward 1) and UMC Infectious Disease Physician Dr. Luis Medina-Garcia.
